Software Engineer (Applied AI)

Location: Remote within the UK or Europe; role is based in the UK. Active DV clearance is highly preferred. Travel up to 20–40% may be required for on-site work with customers and partners.

What you will do

• Translate ambiguous enterprise business problems into agentic workflows with clear success criteria and evaluation methodologies.
• Design, build, and deploy LLM-powered agents that reason, plan, and act across tools, APIs, and sensitive enterprise data.
• Build and ship features for North across the full product lifecycle, from concept through production.
• Own use cases end-to-end and flex across technical areas, including frontend, to deliver effective solutions.
• Develop shared frameworks and patterns for consistent, high-quality delivery across customers and teams.
• Improve engineering quality, clarify ambiguous requirements, and align stakeholders.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade software in Python.
• Experience developing highly performant RAG and agentic applications, including multi-step planning and execution patterns such as ReAct or Plan-and-Execute.
• Strong familiarity with frontier models, vector databases, and LLM orchestration frameworks.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks that measure agent accuracy, safety, and latency.
• Experience working directly with enterprise customers and translating business needs into technical specifications.
• Experience owning technical use cases end-to-end and executing effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.

Nice to have

• Experience setting architectural standards for AI and agentic systems across distributed teams.
• Ability to work across unfamiliar technical areas, including frontend.
• Exposure to finance, healthcare, telecommunications, or other regulated and sensitive environments.
• Experience with enterprise security, compliance, or auditability requirements for AI systems.
