Simulation & Digital Twin Software Expert (m/f/d) (Robotics/Physical AI): Designing and implementing simulation and digital twin solutions for industrial machines, conveyors, and material handling systems with an accent on physics-based modeling, software-in-the-loop validation, and sim-to-real deployment. Focus on creating realistic machine and sensor models, integrating simulation into development workflows, and validating autonomous systems with Python and C++.
Location: Maia, Portugal; remote work option available. Occasional travel of approximately 25% is required.

What you will do
- Develop end-to-end simulation and digital twin models for conveyors, industrial machines, and material handling systems.
- Design and maintain software-in-the-loop environments for validation, testing, and automation behavior design.
- Create simulation assets representing machine behavior, sensors, actuators, and industrial process flows.
- Integrate simulation and digital twin solutions into development workflows to support sim-to-real deployment.
- Research simulation, digital twin, physics-based modeling, and virtual commissioning technologies.
- Collaborate with software engineering, machine control, robotics, system architecture, and mechatronics teams to validate and optimize models.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, software engineering, simulation engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in simulation, digital twins, software-in-the-loop environments, or physics-based system modeling.
- Experience with physics-based simulation platforms such as Nvidia Isaac Sim/Lab, MuJoCo, Unity, or similar tools.
- Hands-on programming experience with Python and C++.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of machine control architectures, industrial communication systems, and real-time interfaces.
- Familiarity with Linux, Git, and Docker.
