TL;DR
QA Engineer (Robotics) (Python/C++/ROS): Testing and validating the full software stack powering MiPA, including navigation, manipulation, AI-driven behaviors, and human-robot interaction, with an accent on distributed real-time systems, embedded platforms, and robotic safety. Focus on designing automated test suites, analyzing regressions and performance bottlenecks, and validating robotic capabilities across simulation, field, and real-world environments.

Location: On-site in Metzingen / Riederich, Germany

hirify.global develops MiPA, a robot platform combining navigation, manipulation, AI-driven behaviors, and human-robot interaction.

What you will do

  • Test and validate the full MiPA software stack across navigation, manipulation, AI-driven behaviors, and human-robot interaction.
  • Execute manual and automated tests for distributed, real-time robotic systems on embedded and cloud-connected platforms.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated software, system, and integration test suites.
  • Define test strategies, test plans, acceptance criteria, and traceability between requirements and validation results.
  • Analyze regressions, performance bottlenecks, and unexpected system behavior while supporting defect reproduction and root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with software, robotics, AI, hardware, and product teams on CI/CD integration, field testing, safety validation, and continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field; a Mechatronics or Robotics background is preferred.
  • Professional experience in software testing, QA engineering, or test automation, including unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
  • Knowledge of robotics systems, including kinematics, autonomous navigation, sensor integration, and actuators.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++, with hands-on experience in test automation frameworks such as pytest or BDD.
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS2, robotics software architecture, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with hardware, software, and AI teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience testing in Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or other simulation environments.
  • Knowledge of real-time systems, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or safety-critical standards such as ISO 13849 and IEC 61508.
  • Experience with human-robot interaction, multimodal input validation, or AI/ML-driven behavior validation.
  • Knowledge of CAN bus, EtherCAT, or other robotics communication protocols.
  • Experience with cloud-based test infrastructure or fleet-level robot testing.
