EU Internal Audit Expert (Crypto)

What you will do

• Plan and execute risk-based internal audits across finance, operations, compliance, IT, and cybersecurity.
• Own individual audit engagements from scoping and fieldwork through report issuance and remediation tracking.
• Support the EU internal audit framework and annual audit plan in collaboration with the Head of Internal Audit.
• Coordinate co-sourcing partners, review audit deliverables, and support the transition to in-house audit capabilities.
• Assess compliance with Austrian and EU regulatory requirements and identify control weaknesses.
• Work with global audit, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations, IT, and Product teams to improve the control environment and audit processes.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in internal audit or related risk and control functions in financial services, fintech, or crypto.
• Excellent written and spoken German and English are required.
• Strong knowledge of Austrian and EU regulatory frameworks, including MiCA, MiFID II, GDPR, AMLD, DORA, and EMI frameworks.
• Required professional certification such as CIA, CISA, CAMS, or ICA.
• Hands-on audit experience, including walkthroughs, testing, issue validation, reporting, and presenting recommendations to senior management.
• Strong project management, communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Web3 and crypto ecosystems.
• Experience using SQL, Python, or AI tools for audit data analytics and process improvement.
