Tax Manager (Direct Tax)

Location: Hybrid in Solihull, England, United Kingdom; attendance at the HQ is required at least 3 days per week.

What you will do

• Manage global corporate tax compliance across UK and overseas entities, including preparation and submission of tax returns.
• Lead tax accounting under IFRS and FRS102, including review of calculations and disclosures.
• Support transfer pricing strategy, documentation, capital allowances, R&D claims, and group tax cash-flow forecasts.
• Act as the primary contact for external advisers, HMRC, overseas tax authorities, and external auditors.
• Lead responses to tax enquiries and audits, monitor legislative changes, and identify tax risks and cash-saving opportunities.
• Line manage and develop a Tax Executive while supporting employment tax, global mobility, and other international tax obligations.

Requirements

• ACA, CTA, or equivalent qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience at Manager level in practice or in-house.
• Strong specialist knowledge of direct taxes and working awareness of other tax areas.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a commercially minded and pragmatic approach.
• Strong organisation, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Ability to attend the Solihull HQ at least 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Previous in-house tax experience.
• Strong IT skills and an interest in improving efficiency through technology.
• Working knowledge of NetSuite, SAP, or Alteryx.
