Fullstack Engineer

Location: Remote within California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, or Washington; dog-friendly office in Downtown Brooklyn.

Expected annual compensation: $240,000–$270,000, with bands potentially expanded for more senior leveling.

What you will do

• Identify and prioritize high-impact technical and product opportunities.
• Build services from scratch for new product lines and lead large legacy-system refactors.
• Work across products involving government programs, savings opportunities, healthcare enrollment, internal tooling, and architecture.
• Solve complex technical problems at scale with high autonomy.
• Establish engineering best practices for technical decisions, code quality, documentation, and delivery.
• Move between hands-on individual-contributor work, team leadership, and engineering management.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing, building, shipping, and maintaining complex full-stack software at scale.
• 3+ years of successful team leadership and management experience.
• Fluency in at least one backend and one frontend language, with willingness to learn Python and JavaScript.
• Startup experience and the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to provide high-quality feedback in technical specifications, code reviews, and team discussions.

Nice to have

• Experience building consumer-facing products for large user bases.
• Experience identifying problems, driving technical change, and aligning stakeholders.
• Ability to operate as either an individual contributor or manager of a small team.
• Experience mentoring and developing other engineers.
• Strong judgment when balancing shipping speed, robustness, and scalability.
