We’re looking for a Payment Transaction Monitoring Specialist to take end-to-end ownership of payment activity for a designated portfolio of high-priority customer accounts.

This role sits close to the actual transaction flow: understanding why payments succeed or fail, spotting patterns across issuers and BINs, identifying routing or technical issues, and helping optimise payment performance at customer level.

🧩 Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain continuous oversight of payment activity for an assigned portfolio of priority customer accounts
- Monitor payment activity at account, user ID, email, transaction, card, BIN, issuer, country, device, and payment-method level
- Build a detailed understanding of each customer’s payment behaviour and transaction history
- Track successful, declined, pending, reversed, duplicated, refunded, and abandoned payment attempts
- Identify changes in payment behaviour, recurring decline patterns, technical issues, and potential payment obstacles
- Investigate individual payment failures and determine the most likely root cause
- Review issuer response codes, gateway errors, authentication results, routing history, and PSP responses
- Distinguish between issuer declines, technical errors, routing problems, risk rejections, and customer-side issues
- Analyse transaction performance by BIN, issuing bank, card type, card scheme, country, currency, and authentication flow
- Adjust routing logic based on BIN, issuer, card type, country, currency, payment history, transaction amount, and previous payment outcomes
- Configure or request changes to payment cascades based on actual transaction performance
- Maintain clear and up-to-date records of customer-specific payment issues, actions taken, and results achieved
- Prioritise payment-critical cases and ensure unresolved issues are followed through to completion

🗒 Requirements:
Must-have:
- Hands-on experience with payments, payment processing, acquiring, PSPs, payment gateways, or payment operations
- Strong understanding of the payment transaction lifecycle
- Ability to analyse declines, issuer response codes, authentication results, gateway errors, and PSP responses
- Understanding of BINs, issuers, card schemes, payment methods, routing, and cascades
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work confidently with transaction-level data and identify patterns across large volumes of payments
- Excellent attention to detail and ownership of payment-critical cases
- Comfortable collaborating with engineers, analysts, and external PSP partners
