Software Engineer III, Backend Developer (FinTech)

Location: Milan, Italy; hybrid with three days per week in-office on Tuesday, Thursday, and one additional chosen day. Extra remote time may be requested.

Salary: €45,000–€53,000 gross per annum

What you will do

• Own product story lifecycles from intake through production release, ensuring requirements are met.
• Conduct technical analysis and implement robust, scalable backend solutions for standard- and large-scope projects.
• Align service- and component-level technical vision with the product roadmap.
• Estimate effort, resolve blockers, and participate in incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and prevention.
• Create technical documentation and coordinate implementation with stakeholders and other teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and junior engineers.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of industry experience working with Java.
• Foundational understanding of cloud platforms; AWS is a plus.
• Clear, structured, and professional communication with peers and stakeholders.
• User-focused approach to building backend systems that support a strong user experience.
• Passion for FinTech or startup environments.
• Fluent English required.
