Software Engineer III, Backend - Consumer Wealth Domain (FinTech)

Location: Milan, Italy; hybrid with three days per week in-office (Tuesday, Thursday, and one additional day of choice), with the option to request extra remote time.

Salary: €45,000–€53,000 gross per annum

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and operate backend services for savings and investment products across the full feature lifecycle.
• Develop wealth-management functionality including the Invested Money Box, automated savings goals, and investment portfolios.
• Maintain and improve AWS-based infrastructure using EC2/ECS, S3, Lambda, and Kinesis.
• Turn financial requirements into scalable solutions while maintaining performance, data integrity, reliability, and transactional consistency.
• Collaborate with Product and UX teams, contribute to code reviews, post-mortems, and refactoring initiatives.
• Debug distributed services, investigate production incidents, and improve the reliability of financial systems.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Backend Engineer in fast-paced environments.
• Strong experience building and maintaining scalable microservices.
• Solid expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with experience with relational databases.
• Exposure to cloud environments; AWS experience is advantageous.
• Strong focus on performance, data integrity, and transactional consistency.
• Fluent English and clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
