Software Engineer III, Backend (Java)

Location: Milan, Italy; hybrid with three days per week in the office (Tuesday, Thursday, and one additional day of choice). Extra remote time may be requested.

Salary: €38,000–€46,000 gross per annum

What you will do

• Own product stories end to end, from technical design through production release.
• Build reliable onboarding, document verification, and security systems that accelerate activation and trust.
• Develop backend services for shop discovery and personalized consumer journeys.
• Build services supporting Plus subscriptions, referral programs, and loyalty mechanics.
• Own AWS-based infrastructure and contribute to architectural improvements across growth-focused microservices.
• Analyze technical issues, estimate effort, resolve incidents, document systems, and collaborate with Product and stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Backend Engineer building and maintaining scalable microservices.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise.
• Good understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Structured approach to performance, reliability, technical documentation, and maintainable code.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and strong cross-functional collaboration.
• Fluent English is required.
