Researcher - Quantum Machine Learning & Quantum Information (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Germany or Switzerland, with office locations in Munich, Germany and St Gallen, Switzerland. Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the European Union or Switzerland.

What you will do

• Develop quantum machine learning algorithms for time series, routing and planning, image, graph, and natural language processing tasks.
• Research parametrized quantum circuits, hybrid quantum-classical optimization, model interpretability, data encoding, and quantum neural network architectures.
• Implement and optimize quantum machine learning algorithms across QPUs from providers such as QuEra, IonQ, Rigetti, and IBM Q.
• Integrate quantum machine learning software with CPU/GPU hardware and frameworks including PyTorch and PennyLane.
• Support the development of the quantum machine learning SDK and optimize hybrid quantum-classical solutions for faster execution.
• Apply research to industry problems in time series, routing and planning, GenAI, and natural language processing, including scientific and applied research papers.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or an equivalent field.
• Experience with one or more quantum programming languages, such as Qiskit, PennyLane, or Cirq.
• Experience with variational quantum algorithms for machine learning and classical machine learning algorithms.
• Basic knowledge of Python, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
• Analytical, goal-oriented, proactive, independent, resilient, and able to work in interdisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English; legal right to live and work in the EU or Switzerland. Visa sponsorship is not available.

• Experience working with QPUs.
• Familiarity with quantum information theory.
