Senior Data Analyst, Risk (Fintech)

Location: Remote from Shanghai, Canada, Toronto, or the U.S.

What you will do

• Analyze the full user lifecycle from ACH and card payments through trading and withdrawals to identify anomalies, loss drivers, and mitigation opportunities.
• Investigate fraud cases and user profiles, quantify exposure, and design and backtest strategies or models for managing risk.
• Design and evaluate A/B experiments for risk-rule and process changes, measuring loss, approval rates, and customer friction.
• Break down net loss by fraud type, payment method, and user segment, and maintain monitoring for key Risk & Compliance payment metrics.
• Build dashboards and alerting for emerging fraud and loss trends.
• Partner with Risk, Payments, and Product teams to turn analysis into shipped changes and measurable improvements.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in risk analytics.
• Strong SQL and Python or R skills for quantitative analysis and statistical modeling.
• Hands-on experience with payment and chargeback data, including reason codes and net-loss attribution.
• Solid knowledge of A/B testing, experiment design, and statistical foundations.
• Strong data visualization and dashboarding skills, with the ability to communicate actionable insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives while maintaining analytical rigor and execution quality.

Nice to have

• Experience applying ML techniques to fraud and loss data.
• Experience in a high-growth technology environment, particularly fintech or crypto.
