Forward Deployed Robotics Engineer (AI)

Location: Zürich, Switzerland; willingness to travel for customer deployments and technical workshops is required.

What you will do

• Integrate and deploy AI models on different robotic platforms and hardware stacks.
• Adapt software, training, and deployment systems to new robots, sensors, and environments.
• Work directly with customer engineering teams to integrate and optimize robotics stacks.
• Diagnose AI, software, and robotics integration issues and drive them to resolution.
• Build scalable tooling and workflows for deploying, monitoring, and improving models.
• Plan and execute deployments, coordinate with customers and internal teams, and translate deployment learnings into improvements for the AI, robotics, and product stack.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong robotics background and very good understanding of physical AI and robotics systems.
• Excellent software engineering skills, including designing, implementing, and testing robust solutions.
• Strong Python skills and experience with modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Experience deploying AI/ML systems on real robotic hardware.
• Good understanding of AI training methods, data pipelines, and model evaluation.
• Ability to build repeatable and scalable solutions rather than one-off integrations, with strong problem-solving and ownership skills across AI, software, and robotics.
• Ability to independently plan and execute technical deployments and communicate confidently with technical customers.
• Fluent English, willingness to travel for customer deployments and technical workshops, and a Category B driving licence.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with imitation learning, reinforcement learning, diffusion policies, and foundation models.
• Experience with robotic manipulation, ROS/ROS2, robot control systems, or simulation environments.
• Experience integrating AI models with robotic hardware platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and deployment tooling such as Docker and Kubernetes.
