What you will do

• Build search-ranking, marketplace-matching, and dispatch models for a two-sided local marketplace.
• Own learning-to-rank and retrieval/recall pipelines end to end.
• Improve marketplace conversion through relevance, matching, and recommendation models.
• Design and analyze A/B and switchback experiments to measure causal impact in marketplace settings.
• Apply modern ML and LLM techniques to ranking and matching where they deliver measurable improvements.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as an ML Engineer or Applied Scientist working on ranking, matching, dispatch, retrieval, or recommendation.
• Direct experience with two-sided marketplace matching or dispatch, or with search ranking supported by learning-to-rank and retrieval pipelines.
• Demonstrated impact on marketplace conversion, including the ability to explain the measured lift.
• Strong experimentation skills, including causal methods for marketplaces such as switchback experiments.
• Experience building and operating production ML systems at scale.

Nice to have

• Experience at companies such as DoorDash, Uber, Instacart, Airbnb, Yelp, Nextdoor, Lyft, Amazon, or Faire.
• Relevance or matching experience connecting consumers with local businesses.
• Dispatch-and-matching experience at Didi or Meituan while based in the United States.
