Backend Engineer (Python)

What you will do

• Build and operate backend features that collect, manage, and surface infrastructure data across the full mission lifecycle.
• Design and implement APIs and integrations connecting tools, data, teams, and systems.
• Translate mission design, program, and business processes into reliable software in collaboration with program management, satellite engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
• Gather user feedback, identify friction in backend workflows and UI/UX, and deliver solutions that reduce complexity.
• Own features from design through production operations and promote collaboration across engineering, operations, and business functions.

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in Python for backend engineering.
• Practical experience with Docker for containerization and deployment in scalable environments.
• Experience with backend architecture, API design, and robust database interactions.
• Hands-on experience building, operating, or integrating technologies for space missions is required.
• Ability to analyze intricate business and technical processes end to end, identify friction points, and develop solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, operations, and business functions.
• Proactive problem-solving skills, willingness to challenge assumptions respectfully, and ownership of features through production operations.
• Fluency in English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience designing, modeling, or analyzing space missions and understanding mission lifecycle complexity.
• Proficiency with Django and GraphQL; familiarity with GCP or AWS and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with PyTest, Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress, and strong CI/CD practices.
