Non-Functional Engineer (Performance Engineering, Non-Functional Testing)

What you will do

• Define measurable non-functional test approaches and acceptance criteria covering throughput, latency, scalability, resilience, availability, recovery, resource consumption, and sustained-load stability.
• Design, automate, maintain, and execute tests for Java applications running on IBM WebSphere, Open Liberty, and Kubernetes.
• Build realistic payment-processing workload models and validate systems under normal, peak, stress, endurance, and failure conditions.
• Automate test provisioning, execution, monitoring, and reporting, and integrate non-functional testing into Maven and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
• Analyze application, JVM, infrastructure, network, and container metrics, logs, traces, and test results to identify bottlenecks and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps, support, and delivery stakeholders to resolve customer-reported issues, establish performance baselines, support capacity planning, and communicate release risks.

Requirements

• 6–11 years of experience in non-functional testing, performance engineering, software engineering, DevOps, site reliability engineering, or a related technical role.
• Strong experience with performance, load, stress, scalability, or resilience testing for high-volume backend or distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of Java and JVM behavior, including memory management, garbage collection, concurrency, connection pools, heap and thread dumps, and profiling.
• Experience with Java application servers, preferably IBM WebSphere Application Server or Open Liberty, and with cloud-native containerized architectures.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes, Jenkins, Maven, observability platforms such as Grafana, Kibana, and Elasticsearch, plus scripting or programming for automation.
• Professional working proficiency in English is required. A degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or equivalent professional experience is expected.

Nice to have

• OpenTelemetry, SWIFT messaging, payment-processing, financial-services, or large-banking experience.
• Resilience and failure testing, chaos engineering, capacity engineering, or site reliability engineering practices.
• Performance-testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, NeoLoad, or k6.
• Kubernetes observability, autoscaling, resource management, health checks, scheduling, and infrastructure automation.
