Staff Engineering Manager, Vault

Location: US Remote - California. Remote and hybrid candidates may be considered; candidates living within a one-hour commute of an office are required to work onsite most of the time. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $190,167–$308,741 per year, with potential eligibility for bonuses, commissions, or other compensation.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow the vault and fulfillment software engineering team, including WMS developers and software engineers.
• Own the warehouse management system, its integrations, and the fulfillment platform, including reliability, roadmap, delivery, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee vault services used to submit and withdraw items stored in the WMS and physical vault.
• Partner with product and operations teams to translate operational needs into reliable technical solutions and deliver the vault and fulfillment roadmap.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, security, observability, incident response, and on-call practices for inventory, custody, storage, picking, packing, and shipping workflows.
• Provide architectural guidance, drive integrations with grading, marketplace, and customer-facing systems, and recruit and develop engineering talent.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing software engineering teams.
• Experience building and operating fulfillment, logistics, warehouse management, inventory, supply chain, or other high-reliability customer-facing systems at scale.
• Experience with AI, LLMs, and agentic frameworks for engineering productivity and quality.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, distributed systems, and security fundamentals.
• 3+ years working with AWS services including Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, MSK, OpenSearch, S3, SNS, and SQS, plus Terraform and Docker.
• US work authorization is required. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
