TL;DR
Staff Data Engineer (AI) (Python/Go/Rust, Kafka, Parquet, Iceberg): Building operational data systems, resilient pipelines, storage layers, and APIs for near-real-time enforcement, transactional identity services, analytical security insights, and agentic applications with an accent on streaming and batch architecture. Focus on designing low-latency data flows, developer-facing APIs and SDKs, and scalable systems that connect identity, security, and agent workflows.
Location: Remote in the United States or Canada

What you will do
- Design and build operational data systems, resilient pipelines, storage layers, and APIs that power near-real-time enforcement, feedback loops, and customer insights.
- Balance streaming and batch architectures across transactional identity services and analytical security workloads.
- Integrate external data sources, enable policy evaluation, and surface security insights through dashboards and APIs.
- Design and ship developer-facing APIs, SDKs, and tools that expose data systems in ergonomic and powerful ways.
- Collaborate directly with founders, product, and engineering teams building core services and SDKs.
- Make architectural trade-offs in a 0→1 environment while establishing a foundation for long-term data systems.
Requirements
- Strong experience designing resilient data pipelines that support both streaming and batch processing.
- Programming experience with Python, Go, and/or Rust.
- Experience building with Kafka, Parquet, and Iceberg.
- Ability to design APIs, pipelines, and storage systems end to end.
- Strong written communication, technical judgment, autonomy, and accountability for delivery.
- Must be located in the United States or Canada for this remote role.
Nice to have
- Contributions to open-source data infrastructure projects such as Kafka, Flink, or Iceberg.
- Experience building libraries used by other developers.
- Active experimentation with agent tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or MCP.
- Strong perspectives on the intersection of data, identity, and agentic systems.
