Director of Engineering (DataOps)

Location: Hybrid in Tel Aviv, Israel

hirify.global builds a unified DataOps platform for end-to-end data management, including ETL, reverse ETL, data observability, and data cataloging.

What you will do

• Provide hands-on technical leadership through coding, architectural design, and complex problem-solving.
• Lead, mentor, and scale the R&D engineering team while fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Drive ownership, accountability, autonomous execution, and a builder mindset across engineering.
• Resolve complex technical and organizational challenges and ensure reliable delivery of the DataOps platform.
• Collaborate with Product and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Optimize engineering processes and take ownership of initiatives that reduce the technical and operational load on leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience and at least 3–5 years in an engineering leadership role.
• Exceptional hands-on proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Python.
• Deep expertise in high-performance SQL and NoSQL database design and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar message queue technologies for scalable data pipelines.
• Experience building or scaling R&D teams in startup environments.
• Strong ownership, accountability, adaptability, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building data platforms or tools such as ETL, reverse ETL, data catalogs, or observability systems.
• Extensive AWS experience and the ability to architect solutions using a broad range of AWS services.
• Humility and a strong desire to build rather than only manage.
