Android Developer Experience Lead (Android)

Location: Hybrid; requires at least three days per week in a Zebra office in Lincolnshire, Illinois; Holtsville, New York; Austin, Texas; or Kennesaw, Georgia. Travel requirements are up to 15%.

Salary: $138,800–$208,200 annual base pay, plus a target annual cash incentive equal to 15% of base pay.

What you will do

• Establish and lead the Android Developer Experience function across Android-based business units.
• Chair the Android Developer Experience Council, set the technical agenda, lead design reviews, and drive cross-functional decisions.
• Define and enforce API guidelines covering design, documentation, versioning, and release quality.
• Develop the Android developer experience roadmap, including foundational tooling and AI-assisted automation.
• Build developer training, workshops, enablement materials, and platform adoption programs.
• Represent the Android platform at conferences and developer events while serving as the internal voice of developers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience with an advanced degree or 10+ years with a bachelor’s degree.
• Deep expertise in the Android platform, its application development lifecycle, and developer tools such as Android Studio and Gradle.
• Strong programming skills in Java and Kotlin.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining public-facing APIs and SDKs.
• Expertise in software architecture, system design, scalable enterprise software, API design principles, and modern software patterns.

Nice to have

• Experience applying GenAI, Large Language Models, and Agentic AI frameworks to code generation and automated testing.
• Familiarity with intellectual property protection, competitor analysis, and industry trends.
