Principal Engineer, Software Development Engineering (Automation/AI): Leading architecture and development of PC-based, PLC, robotics, machine vision, and motion control applications for HDD and back-end assembly automation with an accent on AI/ML, IIoT, digital twins, and intelligent manufacturing. Focus on designing reusable software frameworks, improving manufacturing yield and throughput, and coordinating complex software projects across engineering and factory teams.

What you will do
- Lead software and system architecture for HSA, HDD, and back-end assembly automation systems.
- Define technical roadmaps and software strategies supporting factory transformation objectives.
- Drive end-to-end development of PC-based, PLC, robotics, machine vision, and motion control applications.
- Lead the adoption of AI, machine learning, IIoT, and digital twin solutions for manufacturing.
- Guide software design, coding, testing, validation, release reviews, and continuous improvement of machine control software.
- Coordinate software development projects, technical documentation, risk management, and collaboration with process, equipment, production, quality, IT, and global engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science, or an equivalent field.
- 10–15 years of experience in automation and software engineering.
- Experience with PC/PLC controls, robotics, machine vision, image processing, AI/ML, and industrial IoT.
- Programming knowledge in C# .NET, C, Java, and Python, plus UML, IoT, and Arduino devices.
- Experience programming PLC, vision, robotics, and HMI systems, including Beckhoff, Keyence, or Mitsubishi platforms.
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux, RTOS, OOP, industrial communication interfaces, TCP/IP, serial communications, and controller integration.
