Embedded Python Data & Automation Engineer

Location: Remote from South Africa; meaningful overlap with US business hours is required.

hirify.global is hiring for a remote engineering engagement focused on maintaining and extending an existing Python environment.

What you will do

• Take ownership of the existing Python codebase through a handover with the departing programmer.
• Troubleshoot production issues, maintain live systems, and improve system stability.
• Maintain, debug, and improve data pipelines and scheduled automations.
• Maintain and extend APIs, third-party integrations, authentication flows, and webhooks.
• Build internal automation tools and software based on business needs.
• Identify technical debt and create documentation, workflow diagrams, dependency maps, and operating procedures.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional Python experience in a data-focused environment.
• Experience building or maintaining production data pipelines and automations.
• Strong experience with APIs, integrations, authentication, and webhooks.
• Experience working with an existing or legacy codebase, plus working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with Git, pull requests, automated testing, changelogs, and staged deployment workflows.
• Strong written English and availability for meaningful overlap with US business hours.
