Principal Solutions Architect - Quantum-Safe Networks

Location: US-based; fully remote, hybrid, or onsite from an hirify.global office. Travel up to 30%, primarily within the US, with incidental international travel.

Base salary: $192,979–$276,722 USD, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design quantum-safe target architectures and migration paths across WAN, transport, data center, campus, segmentation, access control, key management, and network cryptography.
• Lead technical discovery sessions and architecture workshops with network, security, infrastructure, and executive stakeholders.
• Own the technical thread in complex pursuits, including architecture proposals, RFI/RFP responses, compliance discussions, competitive positioning, and objection handling.
• Design and run proofs of concept, interoperability tests, and pilots involving post-quantum cryptography, hybrid key exchange, and QKD-integrated links.
• Create reference architectures, migration playbooks, interoperability matrices, design guides, white papers, blogs, and conference content.
• Represent customer architecture needs to Product and Engineering while contributing to standards work, product requirements, architecture reviews, and mentoring.

Requirements

• US-based employment and compliance with US export-control and government-contract requirements; certain work may require U.S. Person status or an applicable license.
• 15+ years designing and securing enterprise or service-provider networks in solutions architecture, network architecture, security architecture, or senior customer-facing engineering roles.
• Hands-on expertise in routing and switching, IP transport, segmentation, firewalls, access control, VPNs, network-layer encryption, Zero Trust, and multi-vendor environments.
• Working knowledge of TLS, IPsec, MACsec, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, key management, post-quantum cryptography, crypto-agility, and quantum key distribution.
• Ability to lead customer workshops and communicate architecture, risk, cost, and migration sequencing to engineers, CISOs, and infrastructure executives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; willingness to travel up to 30%.

Nice to have

• Experience with PQC migration, cryptographic inventories, hybrid key exchange, QKD, quantum networking, or PKI deployments.
• Experience with network or security vendors, service providers, hyperscalers, large enterprises, telecom, financial services, defense, or public-sector environments.
• Familiarity with NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, FISMA, FedRAMP, IETF, ETSI, or national PQC migration initiatives.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCIE/JNCIE, or CCNP Security.
• Comfort with Python, configuration-as-code, network telemetry, automation, and technical community contributions.
