Principal Solutions Architect (Quantum-Safe Networks)

Location: US-based; fully remote, hybrid, or onsite from an hirify.global office. Travel up to 30%, primarily within the US, with incidental international travel.

Salary: $192,979–$276,722 USD base compensation, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design quantum-safe target architectures and migration paths across WAN, transport, data center, campus, segmentation, access control, key management, and network cryptography.
• Lead technical discovery sessions and architecture workshops with network, security, infrastructure, and executive stakeholders.
• Own the technical workstream for complex pursuits, including architecture proposals, RFI/RFP responses, security and compliance questions, and objection handling.
• Design and run proofs of concept, interoperability tests, and pilots involving PQC, hybrid key exchange, and relevant QKD-integrated links.
• Convert customer and field learning into reference architectures, migration playbooks, interoperability matrices, design guides, standards contributions, and technical content.
• Represent customer architecture needs in Product and Engineering while mentoring peers and raising the quality of reusable design patterns.

Requirements

• 15+ years designing and securing enterprise or service-provider networks in solutions architecture, network architecture, security architecture, or senior customer-facing engineering roles.
• Hands-on expertise in routing and switching, IP transport, network segmentation, firewalls, access control, VPNs, network-layer encryption, and Zero Trust infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of TLS, IPsec, MACsec, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, key management, and practical algorithm and key-material changes.
• Experience leading customer workshops and architecture discussions with engineers, CISOs, and senior infrastructure leaders.
• Grounding in post-quantum cryptography, crypto-agility, quantum key distribution, and network migration challenges.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; US work eligibility may be required for export-controlled technology and government-contract work.

Nice to have

• Experience with PQC migration, cryptographic discovery and inventory, crypto-agility architecture, hybrid key exchange, or PQC deployment.
• Exposure to QKD or quantum networking testbeds, carrier trials, key delivery interfaces, or optical and transport-layer integration.
• Experience with NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, FISMA, FedRAMP, or sector-specific regulation.
• Public-sector, defense, financial-services, telecom, network-vendor, service-provider, hyperscaler, or large-enterprise experience.
• Standards, published writing, conference speaking, relevant certifications, or automation experience with Python, config-as-code, or network telemetry.
