Group Lead AI Engineering (Robotics AI): Leading a focused AI engineering sub-team developing production AI capabilities for real robot hardware with an accent on technical direction, research-to-production transitions, and model reliability. Focus on evaluating advanced ML methods, building deployment and evaluation pipelines, and solving complex perception, control, learning, and MLOps challenges.

What you will do
- Own the technical roadmap for a focused AI engineering sub-team and align engineering tracks with the wider AI and product strategy.
- Lead, recruit, interview, mentor, and develop AI engineers while setting technical and performance expectations.
- Evaluate state-of-the-art methods and lead the transition of research models into reliable production systems for real robots.
- Collaborate with Software, Hardware, and Product Management to align AI capabilities with platform requirements and customer use cases.
- Define testing standards, model evaluation pipelines, deployment metrics, and data governance practices.
- Review training runs, debug model behavior, challenge architectural decisions, and unblock complex engineering problems hands-on.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of hands-on ML or robotics AI engineering experience, including 2 or more years in a formal or informal technical lead role.
- Production systems experience and strong expertise in at least two areas: vision-based perception, manipulation and control, reinforcement or imitation learning, multimodal foundation models, or scalable MLOps.
- Strong Python skills, practical PyTorch or JAX experience, and familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure and CI/CD for ML systems.
- Experience with real robot hardware and simulation environments such as IsaacSim or MuJoCo.
- Professional English is required. German is an advantage at B2–C1 level.
