TL;DR

Senior Data Engineer (AI/data platforms): Building and evolving CloudBlue’s scalable data and analytics platform, including real-time ingestion, data pipelines, storage, APIs, and AI-powered workflows with an accent on high-volume streaming systems and cloud-native SaaS infrastructure. Focus on designing reliable production pipelines, integrating AI into backend services, ensuring observability and data quality, and solving complex data engineering challenges with Python, Kafka, Kubernetes, and relational databases.

Location: Remote; work from anywhere, with the position performed outside Ontario

hirify.global provides cloud hosting, website, email, and SaaS solutions for individuals and small and medium-sized businesses. This role supports CloudBlue, a cloud commerce platform for service providers, distributors, and managed service providers.

What you will do

Build and maintain a high-volume data fabric covering real-time ingestion, pipelines, storage, and analytics.
Own data platform features from technical design and implementation through testing and production.
Develop AI-powered workflows and embed AI capabilities into backend services, APIs, and business processes.
Design and integrate APIs across the CloudBlue ecosystem.
Collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, and other CloudBlue teams to deliver scalable technical solutions.
Ensure data quality, reliability, observability, performance, and production SLOs across pipelines.

Requirements

Senior-level software engineering experience building data-intensive, production-scale systems.
Extensive experience with data pipelines, data models, and real-time event streaming using Kafka, NATS, Flink, or similar technologies.
Hands-on Python experience and strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational databases.
Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP and containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience designing APIs, implementing unit and end-to-end tests, and building reliable production systems.
Professional working proficiency in English and the ability to collaborate in a distributed international environment.

Nice to have

Experience with billing, finance, or usage-based monetization.
Experience integrating LLMs or AI services, including RAG, MCP, agent runtimes, or Anthropic/OpenAI APIs.
Exposure to lakehouse or data federation technologies such as Iceberg or Trino.
