Network Engineer

What you will do

• Plan network capacity and growth with Engineering and Product teams for data centers and Points of Presence.
• Provide Tier 1 troubleshooting for switch provisioning, server build failures, connectivity issues, and physical-layer network defects.
• Manage console DNS mapping, network audits, automation-script verification, and operational handoffs.
• Coordinate network hardware failures, switch replacements, appliance swaps, and RMA processes.
• Troubleshoot optical Layer 1 issues using OTDR tests and support structured cabling for data center expansions.
• Analyze recurring network issues, link and hardware stability, and implement operational improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional production engineering experience and experience contributing to system architecture and design.
• Solid knowledge of IP subnetting, Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, VLANs, MAC addresses, optics, routing, and data center network architectures including CLOS.
• 2+ years of experience with BGP, MPLS, L3VPN, VPLS, Multicast, CoS, TCP, and IPv4/IPv6.
• 2+ years of experience as a Network Engineer for a content or network provider.
• Experience with structured cabling in data centers, including SMF and MMF, and with vendor management for infrastructure logistics.
• Experience with Linux/Unix, network programming, information security, monitoring, logging, alerting, and at least one programming language such as Python or Go.

Nice to have

• Python, Perl, Ansible, REST/gRPC, or NETCONF experience.
• Network certifications equivalent to CCNP or JNCIS.
• Experience with open-source Network Operating Systems and deploying new hardware platforms.
• Experience engineering in-house network hardware and software.
