TL;DR

Location: Remote within the United States; role location listed as Sunnyvale, California. Relocation benefits may be available for relocating to the Bay Area.

Salary: $153,200–$234,100 per year, plus bonus potential.

What you will do

  • Build rendering infrastructure that turns a GPU-accelerated, physically based sensor simulator into a reproducible production platform.
  • Connect the renderer with autonomous vehicle software stacks and compute clusters using ROS/ROS 2, shared-memory IPC, gRPC, sockets, and efficient serialization.
  • Integrate simulation with Python and PyTorch-based driving models through Gymnasium-style environment APIs.
  • Improve deterministic lock-step execution, sensor scheduling, vehicle timing fidelity, and closed-loop simulation reliability.
  • Enable memory-efficient multi-world rendering, GPU resource sharing, scene streaming, and high frames per second per GPU.
  • Optimize runtime deployment, asset delivery, distributed shader and texture caching, profiling, and worker start-up performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including performance-critical systems software.
  • Production proficiency in modern C++ and working proficiency in Python.
  • Strong Linux systems programming experience with multithreading, concurrency, memory management, IPC, and high-throughput data movement.
  • Depth in robotics/autonomous systems or GPU programming through CUDA, OptiX, Vulkan, DXR, or a similar API.
  • Experience designing, debugging, profiling, and optimizing reliable distributed systems.

Nice to have

  • Experience with autonomous driving perception stacks, sensor timing, perturbation testing, or closed-loop simulation.
  • Experience with batched or multi-scenario rendering, acceleration structures, and GPU instancing.
  • Experience with SquashFS, memory-mapped files, zero-copy loading, shader caching, OpenUSD, or NVIDIA MDL.
  • Experience deploying containerized simulation jobs on AWS, GCP, or on-premises HPC clusters.
  • Experience with Omniverse, Isaac Sim, DRIVE Sim, Unreal Engine, or other robotics and autonomous vehicle simulators.
