TL;DR
Senior Frontend Engineer (AI) (Vue.js/GraphQL): Building secure, reliable, and accessible repository management interfaces for GitLab's Source Code stage with an accent on policy complexity, performance, and artificial intelligence agent guardrails. Focus on developing performant frontend features, strengthening observability and resiliency, and leading testing and code quality in a large monorepo.
Location: Remote; GitLab hires team members in countries around the world, with location-based eligibility requirements possible

What you will do
- Develop secure, tested, performant repository management features using Vue.js and GraphQL.
- Turn complex policy, permissions, branch protection, and legacy constraints into clear and usable interfaces.
- Collaborate with product management, product design, testing, security, user experience research, technical writing, Gitaly, Code Review, and Source Code Experience.
- Use and critically review artificial intelligence agents for appropriately scoped development work.
- Maintain code quality through standards, documentation, and code review.
- Monitor production health, participate in Tier 2 on-call, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and improve observability and resiliency.
Requirements
- Professional experience with Vue.js or another modern JavaScript framework and GraphQL.
- Strong knowledge of semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, accessibility, and frontend performance.
- Experience simplifying complex policy, permissions, or rules-based problems in web applications.
- Experience writing frontend unit and acceptance tests with tools such as Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, ava, or tape.
- Professional Git experience, collaborative code review experience, and a track record of effectively using and reviewing AI coding agents in a large monorepo.
- Clear written and spoken English communication skills are required for remote, asynchronous collaboration. Ability to manage priorities independently, work through ambiguity, and take ownership.
