Senior Cybersecurity Embedded Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Define, implement, and assess cybersecurity and functional safety activities for embedded automotive systems.
• Support compliance with ISO 26262 throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Analyze vulnerabilities, attack surfaces, and security threats across embedded hardware, firmware, IoT devices, and connected systems.
• Perform and document security risk assessments using ISO 27005 principles and Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment methodologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on system architecture, technical reviews, and alignment.
• Contribute to team mentoring and the development of safe, reliable automotive solutions.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience in embedded cybersecurity or a related engineering discipline.
• Understanding of firmware and embedded system architectures, embedded hardware, ARM processors, communication protocols, and JTAG or SWD debug interfaces.
• Knowledge of IoT devices, connected systems, edge computing, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and UDP.
• Ability to identify security risks from an attacker’s perspective and assess physical attacks, hardware manipulation, and bus sniffing.
• Experience identifying vulnerabilities and attack surfaces in embedded and IoT systems.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in VNG - Cais Gaia or Fundão, Portugal.
