Supplier Engineer E4 (Semiconductor)

Location: Austin, TX; onsite role with up to 30% domestic and international travel, including short-notice travel to suppliers, factories, and customers. Relocation eligible.

Salary: $116,000.00–$159,500.00 per year.

What you will do

• Serve as the technical contact for machining, forging, sheet-metal, and contract manufacturing suppliers while driving accountability and performance improvements.
• Assess CNC machining, forming, heat treatment, material flow, tooling, laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, finishing, dimensional controls, and process capability.
• Lead supplier quality improvement plans addressing quality, delivery, capacity, cost, operational excellence, and supply chain risk.
• Use 8D, DMAIC, and Root Cause Corrective Action methods to resolve factory- and customer-impacting issues.
• Conduct supplier assessments, technical audits, process evaluations, and readiness reviews for new product introductions and existing products.
• Lead cross-functional projects, analyze supplier metrics, prepare executive summaries and dashboards, develop improvement plans, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, materials science, quality engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in Supplier Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting machining, forging, fabrication, precision manufacturing, or contract manufacturing suppliers.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining, forging, assemblies, welding, fabrication, heat treatment, and precision component manufacturing.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T requirements, and manufacturing process documentation.
• Experience leading supplier corrective actions, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders and managing schedules, risks, and deliverables.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, presentation, and influencing skills, including interaction with supplier and hirify.global leadership.

Nice to have

• Semiconductor capital equipment, aerospace, medical device, or other high-tech manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on experience with forged components, forged blank sourcing, material conversion, machining of forged parts, and forging supply-chain qualification.
• Experience with contract manufacturers, Build-to-Print suppliers, and global supply chains.
• Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP, and Quality Management Systems.
• Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
• PMP certification or demonstrated project management experience.
• Experience conducting supplier audits and closing corrective actions.
