Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) (Fintech)

Location: Remote within Europe; candidates must be physically located and legally authorised to work remotely within Europe. The position is listed in Lisbon, Portugal, and works with stakeholders in the UK, US, and Spain.

What you will do

• Define and execute the global information security roadmap, governance model, and requirements.
• Build and optimise security processes, frameworks, policies, training, and operational resources across the organisation.
• Lead SOC 2, PCI-DSS, DORA, MiCA, licensing, certification, audit, and regulatory review activities.
• Partner with auditors, regulators, legal and data protection teams, executives, Engineering, and Product to align security with European GDPR and local regulatory requirements.
• Embed secure coding, vulnerability management, and secure-by-design practices into the software development lifecycle and product roadmap, particularly for crypto and wallet features.
• Lead and scale a fully remote security team while overseeing incident escalation, threat hunting, penetration testing, risk reviews, and third-party risk assessments.

Requirements

• Senior security leadership experience as a CISO, Director of Security, or Head of Information Security in Financial Services or FinTech.
• Experience leading complex information security audits, certifications, licensing, and international regulatory compliance.
• Experience creating and managing group-level security processes and frameworks.
• Proven ability to lead remote, distributed teams, including hiring, training, goal setting, performance management, and budgeting.
• Fluent English with excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Must be physically located and legally authorised to work remotely within Europe.

Nice to have

• Ukrainian or Russian language skills.
• Cryptocurrency, Web3, or blockchain security experience, including custody and cold/hot wallet security.
