What you will do
- Lead discovery and analysis of existing data warehouse and business intelligence environments.
- Analyze complex ETL flows, stored procedures, views, tables, dependencies, and data lineage in legacy SQL Server and SSIS environments.
- Assess legacy solutions and contribute to the target architecture and modernization roadmap.
- Design and implement modern data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar cloud platforms.
- Develop and maintain data models, data pipelines, and data marts, including technical documentation and design decisions.
- Collaborate with Architects, BI Developers, Business Experts, and Data Engineers while providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
Requirements
- Several years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer.
- Very strong SQL and T-SQL skills, particularly in SQL Server environments.
- Proven experience with SSIS and traditional Microsoft DWH/BI environments.
- Experience analyzing ETL flows, stored procedures, dependencies, and data lineage.
- Documented experience modernizing or migrating legacy data platforms to cloud-based solutions, with hands-on experience in at least one of Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, including Kimball, Data Vault, star schemas, and data marts, plus experience with Git, CI/CD, and structured software development practices.
