Senior Data Engineer / DevOps Engineer (ClickHouse & DBA)

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain highly available, sharded, and replicated ClickHouse clusters in production.
• Tune MergeTree-family engines, partitioning, TTLs, materialized views, and queries for large-scale analytical workloads.
• Own backup and restore strategies, replication, failover, capacity planning, and disaster recovery for ClickHouse and related data stores.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines ingesting data from Kafka, relational databases, and object storage.
• Manage infrastructure as code, CI/CD, containerized deployments, monitoring, alerting, security, and observability.
• Support production operations through on-call participation, incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and postmortems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, DevOps/SRE, or database administration.
• Hands-on production experience administering and optimizing ClickHouse, including cluster design, sharding, replication, MergeTree engines, and query optimization.
• Strong SQL skills and knowledge of columnar and OLAP database internals, plus ownership experience with another relational or NoSQL database such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Solid Linux administration skills and experience with Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure, and scripting experience with Python, Bash, or Go.
• Must-have: hands-on experience using AI assistants or tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or ChatGPT for coding, automation, troubleshooting, and daily productivity.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka-based streaming into ClickHouse and other OLAP or columnar systems such as Druid, BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake.
• Experience with analytics data modeling and BI integrations such as Superset, Metabase, or Looker.
• Open-source ClickHouse contributions, community involvement, or relevant cloud, Kubernetes, or database certifications.
