Data Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Kazakhstan; Georgia. Hybrid role with core collaboration hours from 12:00 to 19:00 Manila time (UTC+8). Relocation support is available for employees moving to Manila.

What you will do

• Design and operate batch and streaming pipelines using Databricks and Apache Spark on AWS.
• Ingest data from databases, APIs, and event streams.
• Shape lakehouse architecture on S3 and Delta Lake using Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
• Build and maintain fault-tolerant, cost-optimized ETL and ELT pipelines.
• Optimize Spark jobs, including cluster sizing, caching, joins, shuffles, partitioning, and storage formats.
• Collaborate with analytics, engineering, and product teams to deliver reliable data inputs.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Databricks and strong Apache Spark proficiency, using PySpark and/or Scala.
• Strong Python skills, plus SQL and Spark SQL.
• Experience with Delta Lake, lakehouse architecture, and performance optimization.
• Experience writing clean, testable, maintainable code with Git-based version control.
• Ability to work independently and own data pipelines end to end.
• Ability to collaborate during core hours from 12:00 to 19:00 Manila time (UTC+8).
