Senior Frontend Engineer (React)

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of performant, engaging user interfaces and product features.
• Build experiences across the Canva Editor, Docs, Presentations, Websites, and AI-powered Magic Studio features.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, designers, and engineers to scope and deliver features end to end.
• Evolve frontend architecture through reusable component libraries and shared design systems.
• Champion accessibility, performance, testing, and engineering best practices.
• Guide design and code reviews, mentor peers, and improve the team’s technical standards.

Requirements

• Extensive experience building complex user-facing applications with modern frontend technologies.
• Professional experience with React and TypeScript.
• Strong JavaScript fundamentals and deep knowledge of the web platform.
• Ability to own features from architecture through delivery and make pragmatic technical decisions.
• Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Must be based in Sydney, Australia for the hybrid working arrangement.
