Staff Machine Learning Engineer (E-commerce)

Salary: $159,040–$233,800 USD annually, with geographic pay tiers based on the employee’s home state.

What you will do

• Own the full lifecycle of predictive models, from architecture and training pipelines through inference, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Build systems that integrate model outputs into search ranking, recommendations, feed ordering, and other marketplace experiences.
• Establish model monitoring, alerting, drift detection, and retraining cadences to maintain production accuracy.
• Partner with Data Science, Data Engineering, Product Management, and backend engineering to deliver production systems.
• Make decisions about using hirify.global ML infrastructure versus building in-house solutions.
• Set technical standards for serving architecture, feature computation, pipeline orchestration, model evaluation, and operations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of engineering experience with substantial depth in production machine learning systems.
• End-to-end ownership of training pipelines and deployed inference systems.
• Advanced knowledge of machine learning, AI, and statistical models applied to e-commerce.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, DBT, and Airflow or similar tools.
• Experience with ranking, retrieval, or recommendation systems and modern data infrastructure.
• Expertise with experiment tracking, model versioning, pipeline orchestration, and drift detection.

Nice to have

• Production experience with semantic enrichment, NLP, or multimodal machine learning.
• Curiosity about fashion, resale, style, and marketplace-specific machine learning problems.
