Engineering Manager - Backend (Transcend) (Java/Spring Boot): Leading a backend engineering team building scalable retail technology solutions and APIs for global retail partners with an accent on system architecture, cloud infrastructure, and high-scale e-commerce workloads. Focus on designing secure services, guiding delivery and quality, supporting production systems, and translating customer needs into technical outcomes.
Location: Based in or near Kraków, Poland; hybrid work with 60% of the week in the office or at local sites and the rest remotely.
Salary: 31,000–40,000 PLN gross per month; up to a 20% yearly performance-based bonus.

What you will do
- Lead a software engineering team of approximately eight engineers and provide technical direction.
- Translate stakeholder and customer requirements into scalable technical solutions, services, and APIs.
- Design secure, performant, and maintainable system architectures.
- Oversee development, testing, deployments, monitoring, production support, and on-call operations.
- Coach engineers through regular 1:1s, mentoring, career development, and continuous improvement.
- Define and prioritize features while representing the team in cross-functional and customer-facing discussions.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing software engineering teams.
- At least 6 years of hands-on software development experience.
- Strong system design, architecture, Agile, and technical leadership skills.
- Experience with high-scale environments, such as e-commerce systems handling millions of API calls.
- Practical experience with Azure or a similar cloud platform.
- Fluent English and availability to work in a hybrid format from or near Kraków.
