TL;DR
Head of Underwriting Governance & Controls (Insurance Governance): Establishing and embedding underwriting risk, control, and assurance frameworks for a London Market insurer with an accent on First Line of Defence capability, governance, and regulatory oversight. Focus on designing control matrices, driving remediation, and presenting risk and governance matters to senior committees and executive stakeholders.
Location: City of London, United Kingdom; hybrid with 3 days per week in the office
Salary: £820 per day, outside IR35; market rate

What you will do
- Establish and embed the Underwriting Risk & Control Matrix.
- Build governance and assurance frameworks that provide oversight to senior leadership.
- Create an effective First Line of Defence operating model across Underwriting.
- Drive risk management, control effectiveness, and remediation activity.
- Present to senior committees and influence stakeholders across the business.
Requirements
- Strong experience within the London Market or wider insurance sector.
- Deep understanding of the Three Lines of Defence model.
- Experience developing Risk & Control Assessments and governance frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including influence at Executive and Board level.
- Experience working in a mature, highly regulated environment.
- Availability to work in the City of London office 3 days per week.

- Previous committee and Board paper experience.
