Head of Engineering (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, United States; on-site

Base salary: $220,000–$275,000 USD per year, plus performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

hirify.global is a fintech payment service provider building white-label infrastructure for card acquiring, global pay-ins and payouts, checkout, merchant onboarding, stablecoin settlement, and AI-driven fraud prevention.

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day engineering delivery, prioritization, technical direction, and team health.
• Write, review, and ship production code on critical payment paths.
• Debug production incidents and address reliability, performance, security, and correctness issues.
• Own architecture decisions, engineering standards, code review, and technical direction.
• Break work down, sequence delivery, establish project ownership, and ensure commitments are completed.
• Mentor, manage, hire, and develop engineers while reporting personnel matters and team health to the CTO.

Requirements

• Senior engineering leadership experience while remaining a strong, current individual contributor.
• Track record of owning delivery for an engineering team with clear accountability.
• Professional experience with TypeScript, Node, Express, React, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Redis or queues.
• Experience operating systems where reliability, security, and correctness are critical and mistakes have financial consequences.
• Strong direct communication and experience building effective processes without unnecessary bureaucracy.
• Ability to work on-site in Chicago.

Nice to have

• Payments experience with acquiring, card networks, ACH, chargebacks, or PCI.
• Stablecoin or blockchain infrastructure experience, including Solana programs, EVM smart contracts, or on-chain settlement.
• Experience in regulated, compliance-focused environments.
• Early-stage startup experience.
