Company

Non-profit AI research institute focused on open-source foundational AI research and real-world impact across areas including robotics, data, and large-scale AI models.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain complete robotic control stacks, including low-level control, motion planning, and integration of learned policies.
  • Build and maintain sim-to-real pipelines, including system identification, simulation-model analysis, and deployment to real hardware.
  • Lead robot setup across manipulation and mobile platforms, including integration, calibration, and system tuning.
  • Diagnose complex behaviors across hardware, software, and runtime systems.
  • Collaborate with researchers to translate algorithms into reliable real-world robotic behavior.
  • Use GPU-accelerated simulation frameworks for large-scale experimentation and learning.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience, or a PhD, in robotics or a related field; exceptional candidates with a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of industry experience may also apply.
  • Proficiency in Python and modern robotics and simulation ecosystems.
  • Strong experience with physical robots or robotic simulation.
  • Development and debugging skills across the robotics stack, from perception and planning or inference through control and hardware.
  • Clear communication and effective collaboration with research teams.
  • Ability to work from the Seattle offices; on-site requirements vary by position and team. U.S. work authorization is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience implementing and tuning real-time control systems, with a strong foundation in control, dynamics, and system identification.
  • Experience transferring control and learning-based methods from simulation to real robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with large-scale simulation and reinforcement learning pipelines.

Culture & Benefits

  • Open-source research environment with close collaboration across robotics, computer vision, and language-model research teams.
  • Learning opportunities through weekly lectures, guest speakers, and ongoing education support.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and employee assistance program coverage for team members and families.
  • 401(k), health savings and reimbursement plans, and flexible spending accounts.
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, personal days, holidays, and family leave.
  • Annual bonuses, long-term incentive participation, commuting or internet support, and fitness and wellbeing reimbursement.
