TL;DR
Senior Principal Software Engineer (C/Linux networking): Building and evolving high-performance LoadMaster platform components with an accent on low-latency TCP/IP networking, Linux internals, security, and scalability. Focus on designing complex subsystems, solving performance bottlenecks, leading architectural validation, and guiding distributed engineering teams.
Location: Remote in Ireland; hybrid working is also offered.

What you will do
- Own critical functional and architectural areas of the LoadMaster platform.
- Design, implement, and deliver core features and platform components.
- Lead performance, scalability, security, maintainability, and complex problem-solving initiatives.
- Assess requirements and architectural impacts, and lead proofs of concept and prototypes.
- Provide technical guidance to distributed teams and mentor senior engineers.
- Collaborate on product roadmaps, engineering standards, tooling, automation, and code quality.
Requirements
- Extensive experience delivering complex, high-performance Linux systems.
- Expert C systems programming focused on low-latency TCP/IP networking.
- Deep knowledge of Linux networking, memory management, kernel–userspace interaction, CPU, NUMA, and I/O optimization.
- Proven performance engineering experience, including profiling, bottleneck analysis, and optimization.
- Strong security background covering threat modeling, cryptography, and secure design.
- Advanced Bash and Linux tooling skills, plus experience mentoring senior engineers and leading cross-team technical work.
Nice to have
- Authentication, WAF, load balancing, proxy architectures, or TLS expertise.
- Embedded Linux and hardware acceleration experience.
- Distributed systems experience in cloud or virtualized environments.
- Observability practices for complex systems.
