Application Support Engineer (Linux/Windows, DevOps)

Location: Porto, Portugal, with a hybrid work model of up to 3 remote days per week. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in Europe.

What you will do

• Provide expert-level support for applications running on Linux and Windows, maintaining stability and availability.
• Automate support procedures, incident management, troubleshooting workflows, and operational processes.
• Collaborate with development, system administration, database, and networking teams on changes and infrastructure standards.
• Manage backups and restore tests across Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, and MySQL databases.
• Monitor application and infrastructure performance, load capacity, and SLA compliance.
• Maintain architecture documentation and support infrastructure projects, migrations, and scheduled operational changes.

Requirements

• At least 9 years of experience in application support, DevOps, or related IT roles.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments.
• Hands-on experience with VTOM or other industrial schedulers.
• Proficiency in Shell, Python, and/or PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, or IIS, plus Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, and MySQL databases.
• Fluent English at minimum B2 level and an existing legal right to work in Europe are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Zabbix, Grafana, cloud platforms, or automation tools.
• DevOps or system administration certifications.
• Knowledge of LDAP, firewalls, reverse proxies, Active Directory, Kerberos, and basic networking.
