Lead ML Engineer (AI)

Location: Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, United States. External candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global location.

Salary: USD 190,000–210,000 yearly

What you will do

• Set the technical vision and execution roadmap for ML/AI across business and newsroom priorities.
• Architect and implement end-to-end ML systems covering data, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Build systems across computer vision, language, retrieval, and generative AI domains.
• Define evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, monitoring strategies, and feedback loops for model quality and safety.
• Develop reusable AI primitives, APIs, shared services, and internal platform capabilities across the hirify.global portfolio.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Editorial, Data, and executive stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable AI-powered applications.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of experience in machine learning, applied AI, and distributed systems, including production model operations.
• Proven experience architecting and scaling end-to-end ML systems in high-traffic production environments.
• Deep expertise in Python, modern ML frameworks, and strong software engineering practices.
• Hands-on experience with large language models, retrieval systems, generative AI, evaluation frameworks, monitoring, and feedback loops.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and cost-performance trade-offs.
• Ability to work cross-functionally, influence senior leadership, and translate ambiguity into execution.
