API Authentication Developer (Remote Opportunity)

Location: 100% remote within the continental United States; U.S. citizenship is required.

What you will do

• Define API design standards and review APIs for usability, versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility.
• Author and govern OpenAPI contracts, configuration standards, and automated validation processes.
• Build and support Kubernetes resources, API gateways, networking policies, secrets, and containerized workloads.
• Implement CI/CD, GitOps, environment promotion, rollback, API metering, and usage analytics.
• Implement authentication and authorization using JWTs, claims mapping, AD/LDAP, certificates, TLS/mTLS, DNS, and network security.
• Monitor and troubleshoot Linux, container, networking, security, and performance issues using logs, metrics, traces, and dashboards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience with API management, API security, AWS API Gateway, JSON APIs, API contracts, authentication, authorization, and accounting.
• Experience with Active Directory, LDAP directory modeling, JWT authentication, claims, tokens, and access-control patterns.
• Experience with Kubernetes environments, API gateways, Linux, containers, networking, certificates, and SSL/TLS.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• U.S. citizenship, successful background check, and ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance are required; sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• AWS workloads and GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux.
• Gateway or service-mesh technologies such as NGINX, Envoy, or Istio.
• Observability tools including Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, or OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of OWASP practices, secrets management, audit logging, and platform engineering standards.
