Young Professional Officer (Economist) (Agricultural Markets): Providing economic, statistical, and analytical inputs for monitoring international agricultural commodity markets, with an accent on commodity prices, macroeconomic linkages, energy markets, and trade policy. Focus on conducting quantitative analysis, maintaining databases, and producing research and technical outputs that support food security and agricultural market initiatives.

Location: Onsite at hirify.global headquarters in Rome, Italy. This is a two-year fixed-term staff appointment with the possibility of extension.

What you will do

  • Monitor and analyze developments in international, regional, and national agricultural commodity markets.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis of commodity prices, macroeconomic relationships, energy-market linkages, and trade policies.
  • Analyze social, economic, environmental, technological, and statistical information for reports and other documents.
  • Develop and maintain databases and related analytical products and services.
  • Provide research, technical analysis, and project support to the Food and Agricultural Market Analysis team.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, agricultural economics, macroeconomics, international trade, development economics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of economic research, statistical analysis, agricultural commodity markets, and trade policy.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex economic data and statistics.
  • Strong focus on delivering results and supporting assigned projects and products.
  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work is desirable, particularly field experience.
