Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Reinforcement Learning)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, or onsite in Columbus, Ohio. H1B transfer support and Green Card sponsorship are available; UK candidates must already hold a valid US work visa.

What you will do

• Define reinforcement learning approaches for optimizing welding decisions, weld quality, and cycle time.
• Design state, observation, action, and reward representations based on measurable manufacturing objectives.
• Train and evaluate policies with learned world models, traditional simulators, and offline datasets.
• Diagnose reward exploitation, unsafe behavior, policy instability, uncertainty, and distribution shift.
• Translate research prototypes into reliable deployment systems and establish evaluation methods with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience developing and deploying reinforcement learning algorithms on real-world physical systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Solid knowledge of probability, statistics, and optimization.
• Experience or strong interest in learning-based robotics and policies for complex, poorly modeled physics.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; UK candidates must already possess a valid US work visa.

Nice to have

• Experience with MuJoCo or Isaac Gym.
• Experience handling offline, model-based, or constrained reinforcement learning problems.
