Junior Software Engineer – Security Release Engineering (SecRel) (JavaScript/Python, Kubernetes, Terraform): Building automation, integrations, APIs, and secure delivery tooling for a federal healthcare modernization project with an accent on DevSecOps, GitOps, cloud-native platforms, and software supply chain security. Focus on designing release automation, validating security and compliance controls, and troubleshooting complex CI/CD, deployment, and integration pipelines across Azure and AWS.

Location: 100% remote, but candidates must reside within the continental United States; Dallas, Texas or Tampa, Florida

What you will do

• Build automation and software solutions that streamline security and release engineering processes.
• Develop integrations across developer platforms, source control, CI/CD pipelines, and application security tools.
• Create and maintain APIs, scripts, and automation services that reduce manual release, security, and compliance work.
• Implement GitOps workflows for application and platform deployments in Kubernetes environments.
• Support secure software delivery, automated compliance validation, software supply chain security, and release readiness.
• Troubleshoot build, deployment, integration, and security pipeline issues with engineering, platform, architecture, and cybersecurity teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on software development or automation experience with JavaScript and Python.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Understanding of Secure SDLC methodologies, DevSecOps principles, GitOps practices, and secure software delivery.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
• U.S. citizenship is required; selected candidates must complete a background check and be able to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including fingerprinting when required.

Nice to have

• Experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Docker, AKS, or EKS.
• Exposure to Java/Spring Boot, React, Azure, AWS, Kong API Gateway, Terraform, or Datadog.
• Familiarity with SAST, software supply chain security, Fortify, Aqua Security, or Prisma Cloud.
• Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal healthcare environments.
