Database Support Engineer (MySQL)

Location: Remote role with presence in Americas including Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and Sao Paulo

What you will do

• Provide expert support to customer DBA teams by investigating and resolving database issues via various communication channels.
• Perform screen-sharing sessions for critical production-impacting problems.
• Author blog posts, knowledge base articles, and host webinars for the open-source community.
• Collaborate with a global team of database experts and continuously develop technical skills.
• Travel occasionally for team meetings, conferences, or customer visits.

Requirements

• Fluent English communication skills for customer interaction
• Strong hands-on knowledge of MySQL, InnoDB, and related ecosystem tools.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, backup solutions, and high-availability setups.
• Proficient in Linux system administration and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Availability to travel occasionally for work-related events.
• Self-motivated with eagerness to learn new technologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), and configuration management tools.
• Open source community contributions and professional certifications in MySQL DBA.
• Knowledge of Galera, ProxySQL, hirify.global Monitoring & Management, and advanced Linux troubleshooting tools.
