Senior Software Engineer (Python)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Python): Building and operating distributed services for a refurbished-device marketplace with an accent on scalable backend systems, customer-care tooling, and seamless user experiences. Focus on modernizing a legacy monolith, designing loosely coupled services, and improving reliability through ownership of releases, data, SLAs, and production operations.

Location: Hybrid in Paris, with three office days per week; Monday is mandatory. The role includes two remote days per week, one remote work week per quarter, and three flex days.

What you will do

• Build, launch, monitor, and support customer-care services in a “build it and run it” environment.
• Develop efficient, loosely coupled services as part of the transition from a monolith to a distributed architecture.
• Collaborate with Business, Operations, Care squads, and engineering colleagues to improve customer and agent experiences.
• Contribute to system design, architecture improvements, and mission-critical technical initiatives.
• Investigate technologies with significant potential impact and support high-impact chaos mitigation.
• Promote delivery improvements and share technical knowledge across the engineering group.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience with strong ownership and versatility across the technical stack.
• Ability to produce clean, consistent, and well-organized code and deliver user experiences at scale.
• Experience with backend development using Python and related frameworks such as FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Celery, or Django.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, system design, and data technologies.
• English proficiency is required for collaboration with an international team across the US, France, Spain, and Japan.
• Ability to work in the Paris hybrid setup with three office days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Golang, Vue, TypeScript, Nuxt, or design systems.
• Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Datadog, ArgoCD, CircleCI, or GitHub.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or BigQuery.
