TL;DR
Lead Product Designer (AI): Owns the design vision and execution for a product domain in a UK PropTech company, with an accent on strategic product direction, complex cross-cutting experiences, and measurable outcomes. Focus on shaping AI-powered product experiences, making commercial design trade-offs, validating concepts with users, and raising the craft bar across the design team.
Location: Hybrid in Manchester, with the option to work from home up to 4 days per week. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
Salary: £70,000–£90,000 per year, calibrated according to experience and scope.

What you will do
- Own the design vision and execution for a product domain, translating strategy into ambiguous and strategically important design work.
- Set the quality bar through high-quality product design output and establish patterns across features, flows, and surfaces.
- Drive roadmap and strategic discussions as a peer to product and engineering counterparts.
- Use user research, prototypes, metrics, support data, and customer feedback to validate decisions and measure outcomes.
- Shape AI strategy in the design workflow and in customer-facing product experiences, distinguishing useful features from gimmicks.
- Mentor designers through critique, pairing, and modelling strong interaction design and product judgment.
Requirements
- Approximately 8+ years of Product or UX Design experience, including senior individual-contributor experience in a modern product organization.
- Experience shipping design work with success measures defined before release and evaluated afterwards.
- Commercial fluency and the ability to make and defend design trade-offs based on product economics and customer outcomes.
- Strong practical and strategic AI fluency, including understanding when AI is an appropriate product solution and its potential failure modes.
- Exemplary craft across interaction quality, hierarchy, motion, and microcopy, with the ability to teach and raise the quality bar.
- Comfort working independently and collaboratively with product and engineering peers; management experience or interest in managing one or two designers is welcome.
